Babies in Tummy

Baby kittens are growing in Winifred's tummy. She is sitting on top of the cat tree. Braveheart is in the cat tree resting. Winifred delivered her kittens 7 days after this photograph was taken.

Keeping Warm

Kittens need their mother to keep them warm. The warmth of the mother's body is more critical than nursing. Heat plates can save a kitten's life if the mother doesn't know to sit with her kittens.

Winifred shows her kittens.

Winifred turns to face me to let me take pictures. She rolls her tummy slightly so I can photograph the kittens. Never do this unless the mother cat is comfortable.

1 Day Old

Four newborn kittens huddle together to keep warm while Winifred goes to eat some food. Kittens are born with their eyes closed.

Desk Drawer

Winifred moved her babies into a drawer of my executive desk. It is convenient to pull out the drawer so I can take pictures!

Kittens are big enough to play by pawing at each other.
